CAF CC: Edo State Government throws gates open, provides free buses to fans

The Edo State Government has thrown the gates of Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, the venue of Saturday’s CAF Confederations Cup game between Bensdel Insurance and ASO Chlef FC of Algeria open.
The first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup Preliminary Round is slated to take place on Saturday.
The management of the Benin Arsenals took the decision to allow fans to troop in en masse to support the team.
The team will be witnessing continental football for the first time in 29 years after a 1-0 win over Rangers International in the final of the 2023 Federations Cup qualified Monday Odigie’s side for the second-tier CAF inter-club competition.
The Algerian side are expected to have arrived in Nigeria on Thursday. The return leg will take place next week.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has called on sports-loving Edo people to come out in their large numbers to cheer Bendel Insurance Football Club to victory against ASO Chlef FC.
The Governor made the call through his Chief Press Secretary, Andrew Okungbowa said the government has made provision for 30 luxurious (ECTS) buses available to convey football fans to the stadium to cheer the team to victory.
Okungbowa disclosed during a press conference at the Stadium, that fans would be picked and returned to their points of entry after the match.
The routes include: Ramat Park, Ring Road by ECTS main Terminal at Mission Road; Ugbowo-Uniben Main Gate and Oluku by NIFOR Junction.
Others are Winners Chapel by Sapele Road;ADP and Estate Gate by Airport road, Ojemai Farms by Upper Ekenhuan road, Channel 55 by Upper Siluko Road, Pipeline and Idokpa Aduwawa axis, Total Filling station by New Benin; Gorretti and 3rd East Circular Junction.
