CAF CL: Rivers United embark on road shows to attract fans for Wydad Casablanca tie

In a bid to attract more fans to the stadium for their CAF Champions League second round first leg clash against Wydad Casablanca, Rivers United embarked on roadshow drives across major roads in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
The show which was organised by the spokesman of the Rivers State’s Sports Commissioner, Sammy Wejinya sought to raise awareness and drum up support for the Pride of Rivers ahead of Sunday’s battle with Wydad.
Some of the parts of Port Harcourt visited were Elekahia, Rumuomasi, Ogbum-Nu-Abali, Old GRA, Mummy B Road and New GRA. The Road show also traversed the heavily-populated Diobu and Old Port Harcourt Township.
Rivers United FC will face the reigning CAF Champions League winners from Morocco in a first leg, second round clash at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, October 9, 2022.
Governor Nyesom Wike had already boosted the team with a promise of $40,000 if they beat their Morocoan opponents to qualify for the money spinning group stage of the competition.
Rivers United are one of Nigeria’s representatives on the continent after emerging champions of 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL season.
The Pride of Rivers will hope for a healthy first leg win at home to make the second leg fixture a mere formality as they aim to eliminate the Moroccoan giants.
