CAF Confederation Cup: Rivers United thrash Lobito in group opener

Rivers United thrashed APC do Lobito 3-0 in the opening match of the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup group stage at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
Samuel Antwi drew the first blood of the game with a great finish following the assist of Paul Odey.
Rivers United continued pushing for more goals in the first half but they failed to utilize their chances more in the first half.
After the restart, forward, Odey scored a great goal to pull a goal back before Shedrack Asiegbu closed the door of a possible comeback from the Angolan side with a subtle finish on the hour mark.
The convincing victory at home gives the Pride of Rivers an early lead in group C of the CAF Confederations Cup as the Port-Harcourt side top with three points from one match.
The Pride of Rivers will battle Dreams in their next encounter on the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday, November 3.
