CAFCC: Edo Deputy Governor hails Bendel Insurance progression over ASO Chlef

Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu has felicitated with the state football club, Insurance FC over their qualification to the next round of CAF Confederation Cup.
The Benin Arsenals get over Algerian ASO Chlef 4-3 on penalties after the second leg clash played on Saturday in Algiers ended 1-0 to see both sides tied 1-1 on aggregate.
Amas Obasogie was the hero of the night as Insurance’s keeper kept out spot kicks from the hosts. Comrade Shaibu who was reacting to the success of the team said they have squeezed out water from the rocks.
The former captain of the club who led them back to apex league two seasons ago praised the team for their spirited performance adding that they have make Edo State proud as it was a good representation of the investment of the state in the team in the last seven years.
“Congratulations to our darling team Bendel Insurance FC Official for a quality performance and for securing a spot in the 2nd Preliminary Round of the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup,”
“Your victory is a great motivation to the government that all its efforts, investment and sacrifices for you are not a waste – thank you.”
Bendel Insurance will host RS Berkane on September 15 in the first leg of the second preliminary round in Benin City, before travelling to Morocco the following week for the second leg.
