As Rivers United prepare for their CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal clash against Young Africans from Tanzania, Nyima Nwagua is clamoring for the Nigerian champions’ return to their traditional home ground in Port Harcourt.
Rivers United have played all their continental home games at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo after CAF failed to approve their Adokie Amiesimeka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Two weeks ago, CAF officials were on inspection tour of the Amiesimaka Stadium and expressed delight with level improvement at the stadium, which has raised hope of the club to get approval this time.
Nwagua who has featured in the Team of Group stage matches three times admitted the club received tremendous support while in Uyo but wished Rivers United return home.
“The support was always there anytime we played in Uyo but playing in front of our fans will be great because the difference will still be there.
“Uyo or Port Harcourt is still Nigeria and it still feels great that we are carrying the Nigerian dream in the competition”, he said.
Rivers United will be taking on Young Africans in the first leg in Nigeria on Sunday, 23rd of April.
