CAFWCL Qualifiers: Yussuf Alli & Iyoha lauds Edo Queens on big win over AS Garde

Yussuf Alli, and Dr Osaigbovo Iyoha have congratulated Nigeria Women Premier League (NWFL) Premiership champions Edo Queens on their 5-0 thrashing of AS Garde of the Republic of Niger in the CAF Champions League qualifiers game in Cote D’Ivoire on Sunday.

Yussuf, the Executive chairman, of Edo State Sports Commission, and Iyoha, the chief of staff to the Edo state Governor, in their separate remarks to the fine performance of Nigerian sole representative said they were impressed with the result the girls posted on their first outing.

“It was an impressive performance by our girls on Sunday evening at the CAF Champions League qualifiers in Cote D’Ivoire,” Alli posited as captured by Edo Queens Media.

“I’m proud of them. I want to encourage them to remain focused and avoid distractions because we still have many rivers to cross.

“The girls have made us proud. This is happening for the first time in the history of Edo state that Edo Queens won the Nigeria women’s premier League title and now also winning their first match in the CAF Champions League qualified in Cote D’Ivoire.
Girls, go further and conquer. We are proud of you and rewards await you.*

Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr Osaigbovo Iyoha, described the result as mouthwatering and overwhelming.

“We are all happy that the girls are reciprocating the Edo state Government’s kind gesture and huge investment in the team.
It is our prayer that they get the qualification to the next level. I congratulate our team and wish them the best of luck in their remaining matches. ” Iyoha said.

The Benin City-based side occupies the top position in Group B ahead of their next opponent, Hasaacas Ladies (Ghana).

The two teams will rekindle their rivalry in match day two on Wednesday, August 14.

A win for Moses Aduku’s side will guarantee a place in the semi-final and take them closer to qualifying for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
