CHAN 2024: Super Eagles to face holders Senegal in Group D

Nigeria’s senior men’s national team B has been drawn in Group D of the 2024 Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN).

The draw ceremony for the tournament which will now hold in August 2025 was conducted at the Kenyatta International Convention Center, Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles will face defending champions, Senegal in Group D.

They will also meet Congo and Sudan in the same group to start their campaign.

Nigeria has not won the competition and has qualified on three occasions in time past.

They won bronze medal in their debut campaign in 2014 under late coach Stephen Keshi.

Two years later, it was a group stage ouster under the tutelage of Sunday Oliseh.

The team’s best performance was in 2018 where they reached the final only to lose to host, Morocco.

They stopped Ghana 3-1 on aggregate to qualify for their fourth tournament to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
