Charity Adule: Nigeria forward makes losing debut for Alhama CF against Villareal

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
It wasn’t the kind of debut game expected from Nigeria winger, Charity Adule who played her first game for Spanish top-flight Liga F side, Alhama CF on Sunday.
Adule’s new team with three points at the bottom of the log ahead of the game needed a positive result to fight against the drop with a home clash with Villareal.
The host succumbed to a 1-0 defeat after Laura Martinez’s own goal in the 20th minute handed the Yellow Submarine a precious away win.
29-year-old former Eibar player, Adule played her first game for Alhama CF as she saw 13 minutes of action.
Charity in the 77th minute replaced Nerea Vincente Fernandez before her new team were reduced to ten players.
Spanish defender, Lena Perez Sanchez got a late shower and was sent off after her second bookable offense for Alhama in the 89th minute.
“We had proposed a system to 4-4-2, and in the second half we went back to our usual 4-3-3, we’ve finished with five strikers, and as you can see we’re not finished getting things out.” Coach Garcia told Alhama CF TV after the game.
“Psychologically defeat is sick, today we had a chance to get closer to salvation or walk away with a point.” The gaffer concluded.
The defeat made it two straight defeats for Randri Garcia’s team after the previous defeat to Real Madrid (5-1).
Alhama CF occupy the bottom of the table with three points and will hope to rediscover the winning mentality that saw the team earn its solitary league win against Granadilla Tenerife when it faces a herculean task against holders, Asisat Oshoala’s FC Barcelona on December 10.
