Chelsea planning £50m offer for Bundesliga centre-back

Chelsea look set to be making plans to replace the outgoing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
Both have served Chelsea well over the last several years and will no doubt be big misses. However, the duo are out of contract at the end of the current season and have both opted to swap west London for Spain, with Rudiger expected to join Real Madrid and Christensen Barcelona.
This leaves Chelsea with the ageing duo of Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta plus the inexperienced pair of Malang Sarr and Trevoh Chalobah to cover three positions.
Granted, Reece James can also play as a right-sided centre-back in a three, but that then greatly diminishes Chelsea’s attacking prowess from the right.

Gvardiol to Chelsea?
So, it makes sense for Chelsea to be looking to add to their defensive ranks this summer.
Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill, currently on loan at Huddersfield Town, has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League: “I think I’m ready. I’ve learnt a lot this year so the next step I hope will be in the Premier League with Chelsea, Huddersfield or whoever.”
However, given his lack of experience at the top level, Chelsea may wish to fill the void left by Rudiger and Christensen another way.
And they do look set to do so, with Ekrem Konur reporting that Chelsea plan to make a £50m offer for RB Leipzig defender, Josko Gvardiol.
