Nigeria goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has issued a strong call to her teammates, urging them to approach the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with complete focus and commitment as Nigeria seeks to reclaim its continental dominance.
Nnadozie’s message comes after the team’s semi-final exit in the previous edition, where they were defeated by hosts Morocco.
As Nigeria prepares for the upcoming tournament, Nnadozie emphasized the importance of taking their Group B opponents — Algeria, Tunisia, and Botswana — seriously.
“People might think it’s a manageable group, but the reality is very different,” Nnadozie told CAF Media. “Women’s football has grown tremendously. Every team is getting better, working harder, and investing in development.”
She also cautioned against complacency, noting that surprises in past tournaments show no team can be underestimated.
“This group is tricky, and we must treat it with the seriousness it deserves. Qualification won’t be handed to us; we’ll have to earn it through hard work and discipline,” Nnadozie added.
With a clear determination to reclaim their dominance on the African stage, the Super Falcons are gearing up for a focused and competitive campaign in WAFCON 2024.
