After winning the maiden edition in 2023, Nigeria goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie retained the 2024 CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
The Paris FC save hands claimed the award ahead of two other contenders; Khadija Er-Ermichi (Morocco) and Andile Dlamini (South Africa).
Her superb saves, including penalties for club and country, earned the former Rivers Angels goalie the award for another year in a consecutive manner.
While missing out on the top prize of the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award, Nnadozie is proud to be the best goalie in Africa.
“Good evening everyone. First of all, I want to thank God Almighty for his grace and mercy over my life and also the privilege to be here again,” Nnadozie said after receiving the award.
“Last year, I was here and won. I won here again and am grateful to God. I want to say a very big thank you to the CAF President and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President for the wonderful job they have been doing for women’s football.
“I also want to say a very big thank you to my club, Paris FC. They have invested a lot in me and also to my coaches, national team coaches, and teammates. This award wouldn’t have been possible without you guys. You all made this happen. I am really grateful for you all.
“Of course, to my family and friends who have been supporting me from day one. I really want to say a very big thank you. Lastly to my adopted dad, Prince Kazeem Eletu. I really want to say a very big thank you for everything and thanks to the organizers of this award.” She concluded.
Nnadozie was voted as one of the top 10 women’s goalkeepers during 2024 FIFPRO Women11 behind Mary Earps, McKenzie Arnold, Christiane Endler, Alyssa Naeher, Sandra Panos, Ann-Katrin Berger, Zecira Musovic, and Cata Coll.
She won the best goalkeeper in the French women’s top flight at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
