Chidera Ejuke fires Sevilla to victory against Valladolid

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward Chidera Ejuke came off the bench to score the winning goal as Sevilla edged Valladolid 2-1 in a La Liga match on Tuesday.

The hosts took the lead with an own goal from David Torres in the 45th minute. Valladolid equalized shortly after, with Kike Perez scoring in the 56th minute.

Ejuke was introduced in the 62nd minute and made an immediate impact, scoring the decisive goal for Sevilla in the 85th minute.

However, his teammate Marcao was sent off in the 90th minute after receiving a second yellow card.

This goal marked Ejuke’s first for Sevilla since joining the club ahead of the season. Following the win, Sevilla sits in 12th place with eight points after seven games.

They will next face Athletic Bilbao on September 29, 2024. Notably, Ejuke’s compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho was also substituted in the 62nd minute, being replaced by Suso.
