Chidozie Awaziem Eyes Return to Starting Lineup for Nantes in Ligue 1 Clash Against Olympique Marseille

Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem is anticipating his third start in the French Ligue 1 for 2018 as Nantes gear up to face Olympique Marseille on Sunday. The 21-year-old, on a season-long loan from Portuguese side FC Porto, has missed his side’s last six Ligue 1 fixtures.

Awaziem, capped twice by Nigeria, has been an unused substitute in Nantes’ previous two games and was omitted from the squad in the four games preceding that. His last league appearance for Nantes was in a 1-1 draw against Toulouse on January 17, 2018.

Having played 17 Ligue 1 games and netted a goal, Awaziem is determined to secure a place in the starting lineup against Olympique Marseille. His performance in the upcoming match may also influence his chances of receiving a call-up to the Super Eagles squad for the international friendlies against Poland and Serbia. The friendlies are scheduled for March 23 in Warsaw and March 27 at the Hive Stadium in London.

Awaziem’s versatility in defense and his commitment to making a significant impact in the Ligue 1 clash against Olympique Marseille will be closely watched as Nantes aims to enhance their position in the league.
