Ighalo Showcases Skill as Changchun Yatai Draws 1-1 Against Shanghai Shenhua in CSL Opener

Chinese Super League (CSL) kicked off with a draw as Odion Ighalo’s Changchun Yatai secured a 1-1 tie against Shanghai Shenhua on Friday. The match witnessed an impressive performance from Ighalo, while Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins was notably absent from the Shanghai Shenhua squad.

Ighalo, who made a move from Premier League club Watford to Changchun Yatai in January 2017, showcased his skills during the full 90 minutes of play. Despite Shanghai Shenhua taking the lead with a goal from Oscar Romero in the 28th minute, Changchun Yatai managed to level the score with Fan Xiaodong finding the back of the net in the 62nd minute.

The draw temporarily places Changchun Yatai and Shanghai Shenhua in a joint third position with one point each in the CSL league table following the first matchday.

Last season, Changchun Yatai secured the seventh position, while Shanghai Shenhua finished in the 11th spot in the final league standings. Ighalo’s notable contribution to Changchun Yatai’s performance last season included scoring 15 league goals.

As the CSL season unfolds, football enthusiasts are eager to witness more dynamic performances from Ighalo and the Changchun Yatai squad, especially after their promising start against Shanghai Shenhua in the league opener.
