Nigerian duo Rita Chikwelu and Chinaza Agoh shone for their Saudi Arabian Women’s Premier League outfit, Al-Shabab, in a commanding 10-1 victory over Al-Riyadh.
Chikwelu wasted no time, breaking the deadlock just one minute into the match, followed by Ella Kaabachi doubling the lead four minutes later. Oriana Altuve extended the lead to 3-0, with two goals from Moudi Abdulmohsen making it 5-0.
Agoh joined the scoring spree in the 37th minute, capping off a dominant first half for Al-Shabab.
In the second half, Altuve completed her hat trick, while Al Bandari Mobarak and Sarah Majed also found the back of the net, sealing a resounding victory for Al-Shabab.
However, despite their impressive performance, Chikwelu and Agoh’s side find themselves unable to catch up with league champions Al Nassr. They are currently tied for second place with 24 points, a considerable ten points adrift of the champions.
Meanwhile, Ashleigh Plumptre’s Al-Ittihad sit closely behind in fourth place with 20 points, sharing the position with Al Hilal.
Plumptre’s side suffered a setback, falling 4-2 to Al-Ahli, leaving them tied with Al Qadsiah, who also have 20 points, in the fifth position.
The final matches of the season will determine the final standings for these teams as they vie for positions in the league table.
