By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Forward Chinwendu Ihezuo scored an important goal for the Mexican women’s top-flight side, Pachuca, as they pipped San Luis 3-2 in a league match on Monday.

The travelers raced to a three-goal lead, with Nina Nicosia opening the scoring in the seventh minute.

Seven minutes later, Veronica Corral doubled the lead for the visitors before Ihezuo extended the advantage to three in the 38th minute.

Things started to become dicey for Pachuca after conceding two goals in the second half.

A brace from Denisse Rivera in the second half ensured that the last 31 minutes of the encounter was a tight contest.

Ihezuo, who played the full 90 minutes, has scored three goals in the league this season.

Her compatriot, Osinachi Ohale was replaced by Ella Rya Sanchez Stickel in the 46th minute.

Pachuca occupies the first position on the log with 21 goals after seven games, while Tigres, which has two outstanding games, has 15 points.

They will next face Mazatlan on September 2, 2024.
