Portuguese Club, SL Benfica, emerged winners of the Trofeu do Algarve Femenina pre-season title thanks Christy Ucheibe’s contributions on Saturday.

The Portuguese champions beat fellow Portuguese side, Sporting CP 3-1 to make it two wins out of two games.

They had edged the Spanish team Sevilla FC, 4-3 a day earlier by coming from 3-1 down.

This time around, they opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Carole Costa.

Two minutes later, Nycole doubled the lead while Alidou made it 3-0 in the 69th minute.

Maisa reduced the deficit for Sporting but the goal proved to be a consolation.

Sevilla FC finished second while Sporting CP ended the tournament in third place.

At the end of the tournament, Ucheibe emerged as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, having contributed two goals and an assist during the championship.

The pre-season tournament was the first that Ucheibe will be taking part in since playing for Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
