Joy Omewa inspires Fortuna Hjorring to matchday one win at Brondby

Forward Joy Omewa opened her goal account in the 2024/2025 Danish Elitedivionen women’s league as her team, Fortuna Hjorring, defeated Brondby 3-0 on Sunday.

The former B93 player scored the first goal of the opening matchday encounter in the 11th minute at the Brondby Station, Bane 2.

Ashley Riefner doubled the lead for the travelers in the 70th minute.

Five minutes later, it was the turn of Anastasia Pobegaylo to increase the lead the three.

Omewa saw 78 minutes of action before she was substituted for Laura Frank.

From scoring eight goals with two assists in the 2022/2023 league season, the former Confluence Queens scored six goals last season for the Danish team in the top flight.

She moved from the Nigerian side, Confluence Queens, to B93, where she joined Fortuna Hjorring on loan.

After an impressive first season with Fortuna Hjorring, she joined them on a permanent deal last season.
