Chuba Akpom on target as Middlesbrough bow out of FA Cup

Nigeria-eligible player Chuba Akpom scored for English Championship side, Middlesbrough as his team bowed out of the FA Cup following a 5-1 defeat to English Premier League side, Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

Pascal Gross opened the scoring for Brighton in the 8th minute of play and five minutes later, Akpom headed in Ryan Gile’s cross to equalise for Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Adam Lallana restored Brighton’s lead in the 29th minute to give the visitors a half-time lead.
After the interval, World Cup winner, Alexis Mac Allister increased Brighton’s lead before Mac Allister in the 80th minute was at the end of Gross’s assist to make it 4-1.
In the closing stages, Deniz Undav struck in the 88th minute to complete the rout for Brighton.
Akpom played full 90 minutes for Middlesbrough after scoring 13 from 19 Championship games and the goal was his first in the FA Cup this season.
Middlesbrough, however, succumbed to its first defeat after winning the previous three Championship games against Wigan, Blackburn, and Birmingham.
Heartland will host Millwall on January 14, 2023, in the English Championship at the Riverside Stadium.
