Nigeria-eligible striker Chuba Akpom is showing no sign of slowing down yet as he was once again on target despite his team losing 4-2 to Huddersfield Town in a English Championship encounter.
Akpom found the back of the net for the fifth game running with what ended as a consolation goal in the 77th minute.
He scored Boro’s second goal on the night but not enough to salvage a point as their Premier League qualification hopes suffer a setback.
The former Arsenal striker has found the back of the net for the 25th time this season, to go seven clear of his closest challenger —Viktor Gyökeres of Coventry City— for the top scorer award.
The 27-year-old is the top scorer in the English Championship and his form has kept alive the dream of Middlesbrough to steal a promotion playoff spot.
Boro are third on 67 points and are six points from Premier League’s automatic qualification spot and the Nigerian will hope to help Michael Carrick’s side to a Premier League finish.
