Chuka Akpom: Nigeria forward gets PFA’s Player of The Month nomination

Chuba Akpom’s impressive goalscoring outing in December earned him the nomination for the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Men Player of the Month award.
The prize is given to the player who is adjudged to have been the best of the month under review and the Nigerian striker banged in a goal against Luton and notched a hat-trick against Wigan Athletic on boxing day to wrap up an impressive show in December.
The 27-year-old goal poacher rediscovered his goalscoring form at Middlesbrough, having netted 13 goals in 19 appearances for the Championship outfit.
He will have to beat Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City), Sunderland duo of Ahmed Diallo and Ross Stewart, Iliman Ndiaye and James McAtee of Sheffield United to claim the coveted accolade.
A host of top English Premier League clubs are chasing the signature of the former Arsenal player, with his contract with Middlesbrough is expected to expire in June 2023.
