Deji Ayeni tasks Akwa United on NPFL consistency after big win at Nasarawa United

Head Coach of Akwa United  Deji Ayeni has demanded more from his players after their commanding 3-0 win at Nasarawa United in a Nigeria Premier Football League encounter in Jos on Sunday.
The Promise Keepers suffered a 2-1 defeat in their opening day fixture at home to Insurance have picked themselves from then on grabbing four points in their last two games.
The latest result was an impressive win over Solid Miners in Jos with a brace from returning Ndifrekke Effiong and James Ajako which has put Akwa in good stead for the upcoming fixtures.
While lauding his players’ performance, Ayeni is demanding for more from his team to achieve their season’s target.
“Its a good win for us and it’s goes to show that Nigeria football has gone to a level that, if you prepare your team, physically, mentally and psychologically, you can go to anywhere and win, Ayeni told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“Bendel Insurance came to our yard and beat us 2-0, we then decided to put ourselves together and you can see its paying out for now.
“We have a lot of positives to draw from this match, you know sometimes you play well and you still lose and then you play badly and win.
“I have a target and the team also gave me a target and it is to go back to continental football and I believe we can achieve it with what is happening right now.
“We have started well, right from the Enyimba match and we want to maintain the tempo as you can see the resilient of the boys in today’s match, I really want to appreciate them for their doggedness and want more of that, going toward.
Akwa United will be hosting former champions Plateau United in their next fixture in the NPFL n Uyo.
