Delta State Sports Commission sacks Warri Wolves and Delta Queens Managements

The Delta State Sports Commission has officially dissolved the management committee for the state-owned clubs, Warri Wolves and Delta Queens.

This announcement was made in a letter dated September 24, 2024, and signed by Mrs. Franka Okonma, the Director of Information and Public Relations.

The letter stated: “This is to inform the general public that the Delta State Sports Commission has approved the dissolution of the Management Committee of Warri and Delta Queens Football Clubs, the flagship clubs of Delta State.

Consequently, the existing Management Committee of both football clubs is dissolved with immediate effect. Further developments on this issue shall be communicated to the general public in due course.”

In recent years, Warri Wolves has been competing in the Nigeria National League (NNL), finishing seventh out of 11 teams in the Southern Conference last season with 28 points.

Meanwhile, Delta Queens, who won the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title, struggled to retain their title, finishing sixth in Group B of the 2023/2024 league season with 17 points, failing to qualify for the Super Six, which was ultimately won by Edo Queens.
