Doma United FC has secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League, becoming the first club to confirm their return to the top flight from the Nigeria National League this season.
The achievement marks a remarkable turnaround for the Gombe-based side, who were relegated just two seasons ago but have since mounted a determined push to regain elite status.
Competing in Conference C, Doma United finished top of the group with 26 points from 13 matches. Their campaign was built on defensive solidity, conceding only eight goals while scoring 17.
A strong home record proved decisive, with the team registering seven wins on its own ground. On the road, they picked up one victory and two draws, with three defeats that ultimately did not derail their promotion bid.
This will be Doma United’s second stint in the NPFL and represents a swift recovery from their relegation in the 2023/24 season. Their return stands in contrast to city rivals Gombe United, who are yet to secure promotion after dropping out in the same campaign.
Elsewhere in the NNL promotion race, Ranchers Bees sealed a return to the top division after topping Conference D with 20 points from 11 matches. Beyond Limits FA emerged as leaders in Conference A with 25 points, while Akwa United finished top of Conference B with 28 points.
Meanwhile, Sporting Supreme withdrew from the league, adding an unexpected twist to the season’s competition.
