‘Early goals helped us’ – Finidi George reacts to Enyimba win over Elkanemi Warriors

Head Coach of Enyimba FC, Finidi George has hailed his side’s convincing victory following a 2-0 win in the Nigeria Premier Football League encounter against Elkanemi Warriors in Aba.

The Peoples’ Elephants strolled over Elkanemi with two first half goals from Emeka Obioma at the Enyimba International Stadium as Obioma’s opener arrived just after the midpoint of the half before he completed his job on halftime mark, heading in from close range after being set up by the lively Ademola Adebambo.

An elated Finidi, who could had wished his team score more goals, believes the victory is a tonic to boost the team’s confidence ahead of subsequent matches.

“Its good that we were able to get our goals early, you know in the Nigerian league if you don’t score in the first half, you will start seeing a lot of things with delay tactics,” he told media.

“They will do whatever they can to get the result, but when you score it will make them come and you might get more. Today’s game went well for us, we would have score three to four goals but we didn’t take our chances.

“But at the end I’m happy with the two goals and three points and we’ll see how we can motivate the boys to get more goals and get more decent results in our subsequent matches,” he concluded.

Enyimba have moved up to third in Group A with 10 points in six games. Their next match is against Gombe United at Pantami Stadium on Sunday.
