Edo FA Celebrates Jegede-Idakwo, Omodiaghe on Flamingos Coaching Appointments

The Edo State Football Association has formally extended its heartfelt congratulations to two of its distinguished daughters, Coach Joy Jegede-Idakwo and Coach Aighewi Amenze Omodiaghe, following their well-earned appointments to the technical crew of Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Nigeria women’s national under-17 football team.

Coach Jegede-Idakwo has been appointed as First Assistant Coach, while Coach Omodiaghe will serve as Second Assistant Coach, in what the Association describes as a significant and commendable milestone in their respective professional journeys.

In an official statement, the Edo FA lauded both coaches for their exemplary commitment, discipline, and steady progression within the coaching ranks, noting that their elevation to the national team setup is not only well-deserved but also reflective of years of consistent hard work and dedication to the development of football—particularly the women’s game.

“As an Association, we take immense pride in celebrating the achievements of Coach Joy Jegede-Idakwo and Coach Aighewi Amenze Omodiaghe. Their appointments to the Flamingos’ technical crew stand as a testament to their technical competence, leadership qualities, and unwavering passion for nurturing young talents,” the statement read.

The Association further emphasized that both coaches, who trace their roots to Edo State, have continued to distinguish themselves through their contributions to grassroots and youth football development. Their roles in identifying, mentoring, and developing emerging talents have not gone unnoticed, earning them this prestigious opportunity to serve at the national level.
