Edo Queens announce roster and departure date for CAF Women’s Champions League

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Edo Queens’ head coach, Moses Aduku, has revealed a tentative roster for the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League, featuring standout players including Folashade Ijamilusi, who recently scored a hat trick for the Super Falcons against Algeria.

The 25-player squad also includes Chioma Olise, Inyange Esther, Moses Chioma, Uroko Valentina, Vera Samuel, Usani Miracle, Doria Ohis, among others.

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions are set to depart for Morocco on November 7, 2024, to compete in the tournament.

In Group B, they will face reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies (South Africa), Tutankhamun (Egypt), and CBE FC (Ethiopia).

Edo Queens secured their spot in the Champions League by winning all their matches to become the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) champions in Cote D’Ivoire, marking their first NWFL Premiership title in club history.

They also recently finished third in the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament (BOWFT).

Edo Queens become the third Nigerian club to participate in the CAF Women’s Champions League, following Rivers Angels in 2021 and Bayelsa Queens in 2022, with Bayelsa achieving Nigeria’s best finish of third place.
