By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

American side, San Diego Wave FC and Favour Emmanuel have agreed to terminate the midfielder’s contract.

It was announced that both parties parted ways via a mutual decision to allow Emmanuel to return home.

“We thank Favour for her contributions to the Wave and wish her well for the future,” said San Diego Wave FC Sporting Director and General Manager Camille Ashton.

“This move was made to allow her to return home to Nigeria.”

The Nigerian international made a total of two appearances (one start) across all competitions during her time with the Wave.

The 22-year-old joined the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) outfit from Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia.

She previously played for Abia Angels and Bayelsa Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

Notably, a member of the Prosperity Girls, which participated in the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League with a bronze medal accolade to their name.

As the team prepares to return to the continent for the second time after winning the league title this month, a return to Bayelsa Queens might not be out of place for Favour.
