Enugu Rangers player, Isaac Saviour says the invitation of Remo Stars defender, Sodiq Ismail is a clear indication that home-based players have a chance to play for Nigeria’s senior men’s national team under coach Finidi George.
Remo Stars’ hard-as-nails defender Sadiq Ismael is called for the first time to the national team for the crucial FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
He says now is the time to work hard, get noticed, and be called up to the Super Eagles.
“Having someone like Sodiq being invited to the national team is a motivation for other players in the league because it gives us hope that anybody can be invited,” Saviour told Brila FM.
“Now that we have someone like legendary Finidi George as the head coach of the national team.
“It is a huge development for players in the NPFL to work hard and do our best believing that we can get there. His invitation is a big addition to the national team.”
Ismail’s strength on the wing is second to none in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with the highest number of assists from his crosses.
