Enugu Rangers, Remo Stars, Enyimba to start Caf continental campaign in August

Nigeria’s representatives in the 2024/2025 CAF Interclub competition will kick off their campaign in August when the Preliminary Round begins.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the schedule for the upcoming interclub season, which is set to commence from August 16 to 18, 2024.

The tournament will progress to the group stage from October to December 2024, followed by the knockout rounds and finals slated for March to May 2025.

Notably, there will be no more transitions for teams knocked out from the CAF Champions League to the Confederation Cup at the Second Round stage.

Nigeria ranks among the top 12 member associations in CAF interclub competitions, alongside Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, and Tanzania.

This status is secured, in part, thanks to Rivers United’s consecutive quarter-final finishes in the CAF Confederation Cup, which confirmed Nigeria’s top 12 ranking, allowing two teams each in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.

Rangers International and Remo Stars will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League, while Enyimba will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The final slot for the CAF Confederation Cup will be determined by the winner of the 2024 President Federation Cup final between Abia Warriors and El-Kanemi Warriors on Sunday.
