Eric Chelle praises Super Eagles’ performance after win over Rwanda in Kigali

By Dayo Awoniyi

Nigeria’s head coach, Sékou Chelle, expressed pride in his players’ performance and resilience despite limited preparation time.

The three-time African champions secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Rwanda, with Victor Osimhen scoring both goals in the first half of the tightly contested match.

“It was a difficult game, Rwanda has a great team,” Chelle remarked in a post-match interview.

“I am proud of my players’ performance. We worked a lot in the few days we had. We only had two full training sessions.”

The Super Eagles, despite the tight schedule, demonstrated grit and determination, particularly in the second half.

Chelle acknowledged his team’s improved performance after the break, saying, “We kept the ball better in the second half. It was a good performance from my guys.”

This victory takes Nigeria to six points in their World Cup qualifying campaign and reinforces the team’s potential to rise to the occasion when needed.

As they move forward, the Super Eagles will aim to build on this positive result and secure further victories in their bid to qualify for the next World Cup.
