Etebo Determined to Overcome Injury Hurdle for World Cup Duty

Las Palmas midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has expressed his determination to overcome a muscle injury and attain full fitness ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, where he is anticipated to represent Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

Etebo, who will be absent from Las Palmas’ Spanish LaLiga clash against Eibar this Saturday due to the muscle injury, is one of four Super Eagles players currently undergoing rehabilitation. Despite this setback, the 22-year-old is confident about his readiness for the global football extravaganza.

“The muscles will be fine for the World Cup, there are no worries about that,” Etebo assured in a conversation with Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).

Eager to contribute to Nigeria’s World Cup campaign, Etebo expressed his hopes of participating in the pre-tournament friendlies with the national team when they regroup in Nigeria.

Expected to secure a spot in Nigeria’s preliminary World Cup squad, which will be unveiled next week, Etebo has been a key figure since joining Las Palmas on loan from Portuguese club CD Feirense in January. With 13 league appearances for the club, the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist is poised to bring his skills to the global stage in Russia.
