Lobi Stars’ Technical Adviser, Eugene Agagbe, believes that winning the Benue State FA Cup can provide significant inspiration for his team as they prepare for upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixtures.
The Yes Father Boys secured victory over Flight FC to claim the state Challenge Cup title on Saturday in Maikudi. Now, their focus shifts to the NPFL, with a match against Sporting Lagos scheduled for Wednesday at Onikan Stadium.
Agabge saw the Cup triumph as a morale boost for his squad, setting them up for a determined performance in Lagos expressing his optimism, stating, “We look forward to going to Lagos for our midweek tie; this victory will also serve as a morale booster and a turnaround for us to have a good result in Lagos.”
Agabge emphasized the broader significance of the FA Cup success, highlighting its impact on the team’s performance in both the national Federation Cup and the NPFL as he commended his players for their efforts, recognizing the value of starting from humble beginnings on the path to greater achievements.
He remarked, “As I always tell players, no trophy is small when you are looking for something big you start from small before you get to what you are looking for. So for us to grab the FA Cup at Gboko Township here it is for good,”
Lobi Stars currently sit second in the NPFL standings, trailing behind Enugu Rangers.
