Ex-Beşiktaş star names Fenerbahçe defender to neutralize Osimhen’s threats

By Monsurah Olatunji

Former Beşiktaş star Tümer Metin has shared his thoughts on how to contain Victor Osimhen’s attacking threat ahead of the eagerly awaited Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby.

Metin, a former Turkish international, singled out Fenerbahçe’s Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku as the ideal player to neutralize the Nigerian striker’s influence.

According to Metin, Djiku’s physicality and tactical awareness make him well-suited to handle Osimhen’s pace and power.

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray in a high-profile transfer, has been a revelation for the Turkish giants this season.

Metin emphasized that Osimhen should not be allowed any space to operate, urging Fenerbahçe to ensure that their defense keeps a close watch on him throughout the match.

“If we get Osimhen from Galatasaray, he won’t be able to go to the goal right now,” Metin said during his appearance on the Assist Analysis YouTube channel, according to habersarikirmizi.com.

“I will give Djiku to Osimhen and say ‘Wait on his back even when he goes to the edge of the pitch to drink water.'”

Djiku, who has become one of José Mourinho’s most trusted defenders, is known for his physicality and ability to read the game. Metin believes his aggressive style could be crucial in limiting Osimhen’s impact during the derby.

With just six points separating the two teams in the Super Lig title race, the outcome of this match could have significant implications for both sides’ aspirations.
