Federation Cup Rd of 64: Warri Wolves stop Beyond Limit as Essien Ayi oust Bayelsa United

Round of 64 of the 2023 Federation Cup commenced on Wednesday across centres with some stunning results.

Beyond Limits Academy of Ogun State couldn’t stun Warri Wolves as the Nigeria National League (NNL) side earned a 4-0 win over the TCC League Champions in Awka.

Shedrack Okere’s tenth-minute free-kick opened the scoring for Warri Wolves in the 10th minute.

Eight minutes later, Michael Enaruna doubled the lead for the Warri-based team.

The Wolves added two goals in the 57th and 92nd minute to seal a place in the Round of 32 of the Federation Cup.

Meanwhile, Essien Ayi FC caused a major upset after seeing off Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side and former Champions, Bayelsa United.

The game ended 1-1 after regulation time as Essien Ayi secured a 5-3 win on penalties.

Elsewhere, Bendel Insurance remained unbeaten in all competitions this season as it kicked start its Federation Cup campaign with a 1-0 win against NNL side, ABS FC.

Ebenezer Odeyemi scored the winning goal for the Benin Arsenals in the 25th minute at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

In Akure, Kogi United Feeders were bundled out of the tournament by Edel FC of Anambra following a 4-1 win at the Akure Township Stadium.

While, Mailantarki FC of FCT held Kogi United to a 0-0 draw at regulation time before advancing 8-7 via penalties.
