Federation Cup: ‘Rivers Angels gave everything against Delta Queens’- Alvine Dah-Zossu
By Saheed Afolabi
Rivers Angels midfielder, Alvine Dah-Zossu says the team gave their all to subdue Delta Queens in the quarterfinal encounter of the ongoing Nigeria’s 2023 Federation Cup.
Delta Queens had forced Rivers Angels to a barren draw in regulation time and two missed spot kicks from Cynthia Mega and Chinaza Agoh of Delta Queens paved way for the Jewel of Rivers progression via a 3-1 win on penalties.
And former youth international attributed the triumph to the teamwork, while reflecting on the toughness of the tie.
“The entire team is very excited with the win over Delta Queens today. We really worked hard to get this far and I’m happy we are now getting good results,” Dah-Zossu told the club media.
“I knew this game wasn’t going to be an easy one having met Delta Queens twice before today’s game and our last encounter with them in Asaba was a fierce one.
“We headed into today’s game with the mindset that we would give it our best and qualify for the semifinal and I’m glad it came to pass.”
Rivers Angels will trade tackle with Nasarawa Amazons in the semifinal of the NFF Federation Cup at a date and venue to be announced later by the Nigeria football governing body.
