Federation Cup: Tosan Blankson blames himself for Delta Queens loss to Rivers Angels
By Wale Mustapha
Technical Adviser of Delta Queens, Tosan Blankson has blamed himself for his side’s premature exit from the 2023 Federation Cup following a quarterfinal defeat to Rivers Angels on Thursday.
The Asaba based outfit bowed out of this year’s  the last eight game to their rivals from Port Harcourt via penalty shootouts after both sides failed to register a goal in normal time at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba.
The Asaba based team lost 3-1 in the shootouts handing Rivers Angels a passage to the last four and the tactician  attributed the defeat to their profligacies, while pledging to shift attention to making a league success next month.
“The girls played according to instructions they had opportunities to have wrapped up the game in the first half but they also had opportunities to finish the game in the second half but they did not,” Blankson told media.
“Sometimes in football not every chances is being converted. They had their chances but they couldn’t convert them I won’t fault them because they gave their best, I take full responsibility for the defeat today.”
Rivers Angels will join Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens in the last four of the tournament.
