Head coach of Enugu Rangers, Fidelis Ilechukwu has disclosed his side’s readiness to compete for trophy and honor in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League, [NPFL] season.
The new NPFL season is billed to kickoff this weekend with an opening day fixture between Shooting Stars and Plateau United in Ibadan while the remaining Matchday One ties will be decided a week later.
Ilechukwu, who joined the Flying Antelopes from Plateau United, reiterated that the players have displayed impressive level of understanding and commitment to the club’s new ideology and philosophy.
“With what I have seen in the players this past few days that we have been in close camp in Awka, I can say that we are ready for the start of the season,” Ilechukwu told media.
“The level of motivation from management and government of Enugu state, is top notch and we have what it takes to deliver the goods when the season commences.
Rangers have not played at the traditional Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium since 2022 and the former MFM gaffer has called on the Enugu State Government to fast track on the renovation works to ensure the Flying Antelopes return home quickly.
“Even when we are building into our players the culture of playing our matches with the attitude of no home or away, we still appeal to Enugu state government to fasten actions in completing renovation work at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium for the team to have a base where they can showcase their brand of football,” he continued.
“The fans’ turnout during games goes a long way to helping us achieve together.”
Ilechukwu will be leading Rangers to their first match of the new NPFL season against Doma United in Awka on September 17.
