Francisca Ordega expresses confidence in Super Falcons’ ability to reclaim WAFCON title from South Africa

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Francisca Ordega believes that the Super Falcons will successfully regain the title at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Falcons were unseated by South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in the previous edition of the tournament.

Justine Madugu’s team is one of the 12 squads set to vie for the championship at the WAFCON 2024 finals, which will take place in Morocco this July.

The nine-time champions have been placed in Group B alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria.

Ordega, who has previously secured the WAFCON title four times with the Super Falcons, is confident that they can once again be crowned the best in Africa.

“I believe we want to win; no one enters a competition with the intention of losing; everyone wants to succeed,” the Al-Shabab winger stated in a brief video shared on the Super Falcons’ X account.

“Other nations are also aiming for victory, and we must keep that in mind as our goal.

“Some of the younger players on the team have yet to experience victory, so they may not fully understand what it feels like. I am convinced they possess a strong fighting spirit.

“We lost the title to South Africa in the last edition, but this time we are determined to reclaim it. It is crucial for the new players to experience that triumph as well.
