Frank Onyeka debut performance excites Augsburg manager

Augsburg manager Jess Thorup has praised Frank Onyeka for his impressive debut performance in Germany.
Onyeka, the Nigerian international, made a strong impact in Augsburg’s 3-1 victory over St. Pauli, showcasing his defensive prowess and contributing with an assist.
Thorup expressed his admiration for Onyeka’s performance, noting that he had only trained twice with the team before the match, having also participated in international fixtures.
Despite these limited preparations, Onyeka quickly demonstrated his value to the squad.
“From the start, he showed us what a good player he is,” Thorup remarked at the post-match press conference. “He is ready to help the team, and that’s what he did today.”
Thorup also recounts Onyeka’s overall contribution, though he missed out on scoring a goal.
“Maybe the only thing missing was the goal at the end, although he had an assist and played very well. For a first game, it was really an outstanding game.”
Augsburg’s next match will be against Mainz on Friday, September 20, at the 30,660-capacity WWK Arena.
