Fred Friday’s goal helps Beitar Jerusalem into Israeli State Cup final

Nigeria forward, Fred Friday scored one of the goals as Beitar Jerusalem secured a 3-1 win against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the semi-final of the Israeli State Cup.

Yarden Shua set up Ivory Coast’s Trazie Thomas who scored the first goal of the encounter for Beitar Jerusalem in the half-hour mark.

14 minutes later, Djordje Jovanovic equalised for Maccabi Tel Aviv. Fred had to wait till the 88th minute to restore Beitar Jerusalem’s lead while Avishay Cohen sealed the win in the additional minutes of the second half.

Former AZ Alkmar player replaced Adi Tamir in the 64th minute before restoring his side’s lead.

Beitar Jerusalem will face Netanya in the final on May 23, 2023, at the Sammy Ofer Stadium, Haifa.

Netanya defeated SC Ashdod 3-1 to seal a place in the final to face Beitar Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem based side will face Maccabi Bnei Raina and Kiryat Shmona in the Israeli Ligat ha’Al Relegation Group ahead of the State Cup final.
