Gift Monday nets third NWSL goal to secure win for Washington Spirit over Chicago in five goals thriller

Nigeria forward, Gift Monday continued her goal scoring form during Washington Spirit’s 3-2 win over Chicago on Saturday.

Alyson Schlegel broke the deadlock for the travelers from an unfortunate own goal in the half hour mark.

Canadian international, Julia Grosso equalised in the 35th minute at the SeatGeek Stadium, Bridgeview.

Rosemonde Kouassi put the Sports ahead with five minutes before the end of the first half.

Eight minutes after the restart, Samantha Staab leveled the scoreline for Chicago.

Super substitute, Monday scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute which was her third since joining Washington Spirit from Spanish side, Costa Adeje Tenerife.

She came in for Brittany Radcliffe in the second half before scoring her third league goal.

Washington Spirit moved to the third position on the log with 15 points after eight games.

Up next is a home match against Utah Royals on May 18, 2025.
