Gift Monday: Nigeria striker finally lands in Canary Islands to complete Tenerife move

Gift Monday has arrived in the Canary Islands to complete a three-year undisclosed transfer to UD Granadilla Tenerife on Friday.

The Granadilla de Abona based outfit agreed a deal with Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership side, Robo Queens for the forward Monday, who has been on the radar of the Spanish outfit since 2019.

And Nigeriafootball.ng can confirm Monday, who signed a pre-contract in September, has landed in the European nation in order to complete the deal.

Corroborating the development, the Spanish outfit took to social media to confirm the arrival of the Nigerian in the city with the club’s representatives, having overcame almost three-month long administrative hitches.

The 21-year-old will play abroad for the first time in her career, having had spells with COD United Amazons, FC Robo, Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens both on loan, all in her homeland.

The Canary Islands club already signed Patricia Estupinan, Ana Fernandez, Encarni Jiménez, Javiera Toro, Claudia Blanco, Sydny Nasello and Laura Ortega in the summer transfer window, including the youngster, who had made 10 senior international caps for the Nigerian national team, including featuring at the Morocco 2022 Women’s Afcon.

She is well known for her fine dribbling abilities and power on the ball and will unite with fellow African duo of Cameroon’s Raissa Feudjio, Cote d’Ivoire’s Ange Koko N’Guesan for the remainder of the current campaign.
