Gift Monday provides assist as UDG Tenerife edge Athletic Bilbao

Nigeria forward Gift Monday bagged an assist to help Spanish Liga F side, Granadilla Tenerife to a 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
Bilbao ahead of the match had suffered three straight defeats in the Spanish topflight, while UDG Tenerife were smarting from a heavy defeat to champions, Barcelona in the last time and sought a return to winning ways.
The former FC Robo Queens captain set up Belgian midfielder Jassina Blom who converted the solitary goal of the game in the 23rd minute and it was all the hosts needed to ground out the crucial result.
Monday started the game and lasted for the 63rd minute before she was replaced by Perez Gonzalez.
Gift now has two goals and an assist in three games, with her first goal for UDG Tenerife came in the Copa de la Reina when her team defeated Fundacion Tenerife 4-0. The assist was her first in the league since joining the Spanish side from Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, FC Robo Queens.
The defeat ensured that UDG Tenerife returned to winning ways after the defeat to FC Barcelona Femeni while Athletic Bilbao succumbed to its fourth straight loss of the campaign.
The team occupy the ninth position on the league table with 20 points after 17 games and the next league encounter for UDG Tenerife is a clash with Real Madrid on February 8.
