Nigeria international Gift Monday found the back of the net as Washington Spirit cruised to a commanding 4–0 victory over Mexico’s Monterrey to secure a semifinal spot in the 2025/26 CONCACAF Women’s Champions Cup on Wednesday night.

The encounter at Audi Field saw the hosts take an early lead through Croix Bethune, who pounced on a rebound in the sixth minute to make it 1–0.

After the restart, Rosemonde Kouassi doubled the advantage nine minutes into the second half before turning provider for Monday, who made it 3–0 in the 57th minute.

Monterrey’s night went from bad to worse when Valeria del Campo turned the ball into her own net to complete a dominant performance for the Spirit.

Monday, who started the match, was substituted in the 62nd minute for Sofia Cantore. The Nigerian forward has now scored eight goals and provided two assists in the NWSL this season.

With the result, Washington Spirit finished top of Group B with 10 points from four matches, advancing to the semifinals alongside Gotham FC.

Up next, the Spirit will return to NWSL action on October 18, 2025, when they face Orlando Pride as the regular season draws to a close in the United States.
