“Good luck to them” — John Obi Mikel tired of Chelsea’s reluctance to get Osimhen
By Monsurah Olatunji

Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has long been advocating for the club to sign Victor Osimhen, believing the Nigerian international would be a perfect fit for the club.
The Super Eagles star is the hottest striker in Europe at the moment, and his services will be highly sought after when the summer transfer window opens.
The Blues nearly landed Osimhen last summer, but their bid fell short, and he joined Galatasaray on loan, where he has scored 29 goals in 33 games.
However, Chelsea are reportedly exploring a more affordable option in Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, who is four years younger than Osimhen and has a relegation release clause of £40 million.
The 26-year-old striker has attracted interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Juventus are eyeing him as a potential replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, while Barcelona have identified him as a long-term successor to the ageing Robert Lewandowski.
Champions League holders Real Madrid have also joined the race, and long-time admirers Paris Saint-Germain remain in the conversation.
However, Osimhen’s ultimate dream remains a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United all monitoring his situation closely.
On the Obi One Podcast, Mikel revealed that Osimhen remains eager to join Chelsea and emulate his idol, Didier Drogba.
“Listen, it will be really sad if we don’t get a player who supported us as a kid and wants to play for this Football Club,” Mikel said.
“His idol is Drogba, he will want to break records, win us trophies, get us back to the top, come for Drogba’s records. I’m telling you that would be his mission.
“If the club chose not to pursue it, then well fair enough, good luck to them, but the good thing about it is we know where we left it, we can literally pick the phone up and get him straight in the door.”
