Greg Ikhenoba, coach of Bendel Insurance, has voiced his dissatisfaction with his team’s performance in their recent defeat to Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

The Benin Arsenal suffered a disappointing 3-1 loss to the Promise Keepers at the Nest of Champions in Uyo, leaving Ikhenoba frustrated with his side’s lackluster display.

Ikhenoba had high expectations for his players but was disappointed with their performance on the field. He emphasized the importance of team mentality and performance in securing victory in football matches.

The coach expressed his astonishment at conceding two goals within a span of three minutes during the game, highlighting the need for his team to improve defensively.

“I expected my boys to rise to the occasion, but unfortunately, the reverse was the case,” Ikhenoba lamented in a statement to Bendel Insurance.

“In football, every coach and team approach games with their strategy, believing they are going to win. However, the result is determined on the field of play, and winning depends on the mentality of the players.”

While acknowledging the resilience of the host team, Ikhenoba stressed that his players did not perform up to expectations, resulting in the disappointing outcome.

With 34 points from 25 matches, Bendel Insurance will now shift their focus to their next fixture against Doma United on Sunday, March 17, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
