Halimatu Ayinde and her club, Rosengard, secured the 2024 Swedish Damallsvenskan title following a 2-1 victory over Kristianstad on Friday.

Rebecca Knaak’s brace was the key to Rosengard’s triumph with four games to spare, sealing their spot in next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Knaak opened the scoring in the 19th minute at Malmo IP, before doubling the lead with an assist from Momoko Tanikawa.

Kristianstad’s Tilda Sanden pulled a goal back for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough.

Rosengard’s title was confirmed after second-placed Hammarby played to a 0-0 draw with Linkoping, leaving Rosengard with an unassailable 17-point lead with four games still to play.

With 66 points, they topped the table ahead of Hammarby’s 49.

This marks Ayinde’s second league title with Rosengard, although she wasn’t available for the match due to a knee injury, which has ruled her out for the remainder of the season and the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ayinde had previously netted one goal in 12 league appearances before her injury.
