Hamza Abara calls for improvement as Niger Tornadoes gear up for Rivers United visit
By Wale Mustapha
Head Coach of Niger Tornadoes, Hamza Abara had urged the players to focus their minds on how the team will grab the first win of the season when they take on Rivers United in their next Nigeria Premier Football League encounter.
The ‘Ikon Allah Boys’ started the season with a defeat following a 1-0 loss to Abia Warriors in Umuahia on Saturday and they have since been intensify preparation for their first home match at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
While reflecting on their opening day loss, Abara insists his side possess potentials to be one of the contenders this season.
“Despite the defeat in Umuahia against Abia Warriors, it was a good game and a spirited performance,” Abara told nigeriafootball.ng.
“I believe we have the potentials to do even better, so we have to put in extra effort and be determined and focused to be able to achieve our aims.”
Rivers United were not involved in the opening day encounter of the league as they were taking Etoile Filante in the second leg, second round clash of CAF Confederation Cup which they won 2-0 to book a passage to the group stage.
