Hamza Abara leaves Plateau United to join El-Kanemi Warriors as head coach

Abdulazeez Hamza Abara has teamed up with El-Kanemi Warriors ahead of the Nigeria Premier Football League second stanza after leaving his his role as chief coach  at Plateau United.
The former Sokoto United technical adviser joined the Jos-based team in October 2021 as an assistant coach to coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and helped the team to a second-placed finish at the end of the 2021/2022 NPFL season.
Abera was involved in the Peace Boys campaign in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup before they crashed out at the expense of Esperance Tunis and Al Akhdar of Libya respectively.
Confirming his exit on mutual consent, Plateau United’s general manager, Pius Henwan hailed impact of Abera with the Jos based outfit and back him to excel at El-Kanemi.
“Coach Abara’s departure has left a vacuum in our team which may be difficult to fill,” Henwan told media.
“He has brought a lot to the team but we are happy that the move is a lift on his career and I am optimistic he will do a good job with his new team.”
The erstwhile Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes of Minna is expected to officially resume duties with his new side on Monday, March 13, 2023.
His major target with El-Kanemi Warriors is to help the team escape relegation when the second stanza of the season kicks off, with the Maiduguri-based side occupy the bottom position in Group A with 5 points after nine games.
